Birdsong Resort & Marina's
Tennessee River Pearl Farm hosted third graders from Camden Elementary
School on Wednesday, October 31, 2001. Above, pearl tour guide Bob Keast
explains how mussels produce pearls. The students were very attentive and
learned a great deal about the lake environment. Students were from Mrs.
Jill Barnett's and Mrs. Susan Woods' classes. Pearl farm manager Don Nerrin opens
a live mussel to search for a pearl, as Bob Keast looks on. This
particular mussel yielded two coin-shaped pearls. Birdsong Resort & Marina's
Kristi Halsey displays the opened mussel to students as teacher Jill
Barnett observes. The students assembled for a quick
photo just before leaving the Resort. We really enjoyed having these young
people spend the morning with us. |
