Civil War Tours
Historical Civil War Battle of Johnsonville happened on the area waters of our own Kentucky Lake. Nathan Bedford Forrest opened fire on the supply depot and the town of Johnsonville November 4, 1864. One of West Tennessee’s highest points is Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park’s Pilot Knob. The “Knob” is home to a monument on the battle site and a Tennessee River Folk Life Museum. Old Peckerwood Landing Nature Trail
A two-mile nature trail that winds along the cool, shady, lazy creek sides in the Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge (TNWR). Enjoy the natural abundance of wildlife in its natural habitat, observe the biological communities along this relaxing journey through wetlands, marshland, corn and soybean crop fields planted for waterfowl and deer feeding.
Densely-wooded trek through the TNRW, then take an additional 2-mile journey along a quaint, winding country road leading to the breathtaking view at Peckerwood Landing overlooking the scenic Tennessee River. Outdoor enthusiasts park vehicles at the Birdsong boat showroom and Pearl Museum paved parking area to begin the experience.
